The Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore His Excellency Premjith S called on the Grand Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt His Eminence Sheikh Dr Shawky Allam on 29 January 2014 to take stock of on-going cooperation between Dar Al-Ifta Al-Misriyya and Singapore’s Islamic institutions, including the training of Islamic preachers from Singapore. Singapore views Egypt’s Al-Azhar University as the primary centre of Islamic learning in the world.  His Eminence Sheikh Dr Allam observed that Singapore was now one of Dar Al-Ifta’s important partners from the Southeast Asian region and he viewed Singapore students studying in Al-Azhar University as “ambassadors for moderate Islam”.
