Dear Excellency
I was deeply shocked and saddened to learn about the bomb explosion on New Year's Day outside a church in Alexandria which has killed and injured many Egyptians.
On behalf of the people of Singapore, I would like to convey my deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims of this horrific and senseless attack. Our thoughts are with them during this time of pain and grief.
Singapore joins Egypt in condemning this attack on a religious institution which has resulted in a loss of innocent lives. It is a sombre reminder that the scourge of terrorism continues to remain a serious threat that requires all countries to exercise constant vigilance and pursue tough counter-terrorism action.
