ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Statement on The Terrorist Attacks in Surabaya and Pekanbaru, Indonesia, 18 May 2018

1.         ASEAN strongly condemns the terrorist attacks in the vicinity of three churches and police stations in Surabaya and Pekanbaru, Indonesia on 13, 14 and 16 May 2018, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives and caused injuries to many.

2.         ASEAN extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, and wishes the injured a quick recovery.

3.         ASEAN fully supports the efforts of the Government of Indonesia in addressing the situation and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

4.         ASEAN stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Indonesia in this difficult time. We also reaffirm our commitment to enhance regional counterterrorism cooperation.
